Match Reports
John McConnell Memorial Cup 2nd Round
Cramond FC ... 3 AC Oxgangs ... 1
|
|
AC started the match slowly as they seem to do every week and Cramond were very quick to take advantage. Cramond picked up an early booking as their forward kicked the ball away in frustration and the referee flashed the yellow card. About ten minutes later Cramond
went ahead with a low shot that beat Martin to take a deserved lead. AC then started to put the passes together and, with about 10 minutes remaining until half time, started hitting shots with Jake coming closest to a score. Cramond extended their lead early in the second half
as AC went two behind. Cramond could have then made it 3 but for two brilliant clearances off the line by Philip.
AC finally started to raise their game and had shot after shot on goal but nothing would go in and all of a sudden Cramond scored against the run of play to make
it 3-0. Man of the match : Adam |
City Financial South East Region Cup : 1st Round
AC Oxgangs ... 2 Tynecastle FC Colts ... 3
|
|
After a slow start to the half,
in which some of the team seemed tired allowing Tynecastle to dominate the early
play, we eventually created one or two half chances. Tynecastle looked the stronger side, scoring two goals through some good play. (This seems to be a common occurrence by AC 15s
... giving teams a couple of goals start). Our efforts then improved with Gary nearly bursting the net
but for a great save from Tynecastle's keeper. During the second half we seemed to come alive and upped the tempo with some good ball coming from our mid-field only for the final pass, or lack of final pass, to let us down. We did create chances and our first goal came direct from the corner spot. A great ball over from Jack which the keeper tried to grab but which slipped through his fingers into their net. With our lads at the back and our mid-field in the mood we created some good chances which
led to our second goal from the penalty spot (answers on a postcard regarding the penalty claim!) with Jack calmly striking the ball home from the
spot to make it 2-2. All in all a decent but uninspired performance from our lads but they know they can play a lot better if they believe in themselves. Man of the match : Jack - well done! |
