Weary legs cost the Colts in Sevens Tournament Final
The U15 Colts entered 2 teams to the Arniston Rangers 7-a-side tournament which was held on Sunday 13th June at Goreglen. Both teams performed well on the day & coped well with the short breaks between games & the intermittent drizzle.
The games were played at a very high tempo and the 20 minute group matches were strength sapping for the boys. Both teams showed up well, with the Yellows winning 3 but losing 2 and the Blues coming top of their section by winning 4 & drawing 1.
The Blues faced a worn out Tweedmouth team in the semi final and strolled to their highest score with a fantastic 7-0 victory. The boys had now played a total of 125 minutes football with a further 25 to go.
In the Final the boys took an early lead through Laurie after a typical fast flowing and quick passing move. In the end, a fresher looking Duns took the victory with a narrow 2-1 score.
Over the day, the boys scored 17 goals in total, conceding only 3. A shortage a subs probably cost the boys, but they gave their all, played some outstanding football & can be very proud of their efforts.
Thanks to the Parents who turned out in good numbers & also a special mention to Johnny D for a quick recovery from his fractured ankle. |
