Easter Tour 2011 - Bolton
We lost 3-4 to Worsley Juniors and 0-3 to Ladybridge on the Saturday and Sunday mornings. We always knew we would have a bit of an age difference to contend with (English squads are eligible from 1 Sept while Scottish squads, of course, have to wait until 1st Jan) but some of the lads/men we were up against were already 16. A bit of a struggle in both games but the boys did well to dig in against physically stronger teams. With a squad of 19, we made sure that each boy got at least half a match each day so there was a fair bit of changing around! On the Saturday afternoon we went go-karting which went down very well with all the boys and the dads – it was good to see that the geriatrics hadn’t lost their competitive edge. On the Sunday afternoon we managed to squeeze in a quick visit to a café which was showing the Old Firm match on an outdoors screen. As soon as the match finished, we headed off to the Reebok stadium to experience the great atmosphere and see the Wanderers put paid to Arsenal’s title hopes, courtesy of a last-minute goal right in front of us.
